About this site
Student GPA Calc is four free calculators for US high school and college students, and for the parents who end up helping with the maths. They cover high school GPA, college GPA, the score you need on a final, and the weighted average of a class grade. You type in grades, and the page does the sums.
AUSSIE-AI LTD, a small UK company, runs the site. Nobody here is a teacher, a school counselor, an admissions officer or a registrar, and no number on the site is an official GPA. We wrote the calculators and the explanations from published school and college policies. Each page lists the pages we read.
Where the rules come from
GPA has no national standard. Schools choose their own point scales, their own extra points for honors and AP, and their own percentage cutoffs. We read policies from registrars, school districts, state-level pages and college admissions offices, and used the figures exactly as those pages state them. The College Board's student pages are our general reference.
When policies disagree, the page says so, and the calculators let you edit the scale and the weights so you can match your own school. If we could only find a figure in a news item, a summary or a proposed rule, we mark it that way. If a school's page would not load for us, we left it out.
What the calculators can't do
- They do not know your school's rules. Your grading policy page or your counselor does.
- They cannot predict a college's decision. Colleges recalculate GPA in different ways, and several publish how.
- They give a planning figure. The transcript is the official number.
- They leave out curves, rounding and extra credit unless you enter the grades the way your teacher records them.
Money
The site may carry advertising to cover its costs. No school, college or testing body we mention has paid us or has any link to us. Their names appear only to show whose published policy a number came from.
Corrections
If a figure looks wrong, send us the details through the contact information published on the site. We will check it against its source and correct it.
